For various usage requirements, Power Apps Plans have proven to be a more cost-effective licensing alternative than ordinary Dynamics 365 SKUs. These give users the option of licensing a single app or allowing them to operate an unlimited number of apps.
Users can use the Microsoft Business Applications platform (Power Platform) and Dataverse (previously Common Data Service) using the same responsive unified interface as Dynamics 365 and/or create mobile canvas apps by incorporating Power Apps and licensing through Power Apps Plans. Many of the regular Dynamics tables, such as accounts, contacts, and activities, are also available through Power Apps Plans.
Dynamics 365 licensing guide
The current monthly price for Dynamics 365 for Customer Service Enterprise is AUD 132.68 per user. You may need to go through the guide available at the site of Microsoft for dynamics 365 user license types.
If you need a pre-built case management solution with integrated knowledge capabilities, this is a terrific deal; but, if users only want to build on the platform without touching these tables and functions, this is a less tempting deal. The Dynamics 365 product suite includes a number of smart solutions that can help your company grow. So, you should first understand what you’re getting for your money in order to get the most out of Dynamics 365.
When you buy the programs, you gain a lot of advantages. The majority of them are provided per tenant unless otherwise stated:
- Dual Use Rights
- Downgrade Rights
- Default Capacities
Power Apps Plans
These features include the ability to install the entire unified interface, dashboards, list views, and record forms, as well as the ability to write to a variety of standard Dynamics tables (entities) and infinite custom tables.
The following Power Apps plans are available:
- Per-App Plan – As of October 20, 2021, this has been renamed and passes now merely grant access to one app or one site.
- Per-User Plan – allows users to run an infinite number of apps with full Power Apps functionality.
Microsoft introduced a new price list in October 2021, which cut plan prices for new agreements and renewals as follows:
- Per-App Plan: AUD 7.04 per month (USD $5) per user/app (formerly AUD 13.90 / USD $10)
- Each user costs AUD 27.98 (USD $20). AUD 55.96/ USD $40 per month (formerly AUD 55.96 / USD $40) Plan per user (unlimited app)
For either model, there is no minimum or a maximum number of licenses required. The per-app plan can be stacked, which means that many passes can be purchased for users that need access to multiple apps but not to the point where the unlimited app plan is required.
Power automate licensing guide
Plan users can run any flow that is triggered immediately within the context of their Power App thanks to Microsoft’s Power Apps licensing.
The standalone power Automate plans include access to all of Power Automate’s (previously Microsoft Flow) standalone features. Since October 2019, Dynamics 365 app license has limited the ability to use Power Automate to just flows that are mapped to a Dynamics app.
Pay-As-You-Go Pricing
Power Apps Per-App Plans are now available with pay-as-you-go invoicing for extra flexibility, allowing you to license only the users who run an app during the monthly period.
This enables businesses to buy the Power Apps Per-App Plan with an Azure subscription for AUD 13.90 / USD $10 per active user/month, with pricing based on the number of distinct apps or portals that are run each month. Customers only pay for what their team really uses by using an Azure subscription as the payment instrument with a usage-based licensing model.
The verdict
The Dynamics 365 licensing menu doesn’t often provide a clear choice for bespoke or reasonably constrained use demands.
Let’s imagine a user role is responsible for course administration or application processing. In these circumstances, a Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise license might be the best option. Perhaps it’s because this SKU allows you to create and change accounts, as well as work with 15 or more custom tables (entities). This is because the D365 Team Member license does not cover these usage rights.
The price-to-value ratio is skewed if these customers don’t need case management, knowledge posting, or any of the other service features included in the Customer Service app.
A license that gives you access to the Power Platform and includes the main capabilities, but without the added complexity and cost of further features, would be a better option. Here’s where Power Apps Plans come in handy!

It might be tough to understand the Dynamics 365 and power platform licensing and entitlement landscape. There are intricacies built into each particular entitlement, and while this guide curates most of the material, it is far from thorough.
