Microsoft’s supply chain plays a vital role in the business world. On the 14th of November, 2022, they just announced another good news for the supply chain. Microsoft has recently announced a public preview of a new composable platform for its supply chain deals known as the Microsoft supply chain platform.
With AI, Collaboration, low code, security, and SaaS application, Microsoft is introducing an open and composable foundation for data and supply chain orchestration.
All kinds of businesses and industries can now fulfill the purpose of competing with the world and the market’s pace.
What is new and exciting in the Microsoft Supply chain platform?
With the aid of partners, Microsoft Supply Chain Platform is designed to enable businesses to expand capabilities using Dynamics 365 apps, Power Platform, Teams, and Azure. Microsoft also mentioned pre-built links to independent software vendors, such as “Blue Yonder, Cosmo Tech, Experlogix, Flintfox, inVia Robotics, K3, O9 Solutions, SAS, Sonata Software, To-Increase, and many more.
This special launch also includes a “ready-made ‘command center'” for current data and applications. It is now offering many pre-built modules, including:
Supply and demand insights AI models, news alerts;
The Order Management module is for orchestrating and automating fulfillment. This module also appears directly relevant to the current Dynamics 365 intelligent Order management solution. This solution is the same that reached GA in 2021, Teams integration, and partner modules.
Microsoft also says that Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management customers can now access the Supply Chain Center, which is a part of the recent agreement details.
On Microsoft’s product page for the platform, a number of the features and results are listed in categories such as inventory optimization, manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and asset productivity.
Overhaul, a freight management software provider, will provide a “partner module” for Supply Chain Center. According to Microsoft, partner modules will operate on Dataverse.
The goal of the Supply Chain Center is to “harmonize data” from the systems of Microsoft and other popular vendors like Oracle and SAP. There is another addition of a Data Manager. The job of a data manager is to enable data ingestion and orchestration based on supply chain management needs. It can be about the visibility and action in systems of execution. According to Microsoft, four companies—C.H. Robinson, FedEx, FourKites, and Overhaul—will provide native experiences within the Supply Chain Center to integrate shipping, transportation, and other forms of execution into the use of the platform.
The same year in July, we had a horizontally oriented cloud platform, also known as its Digital Contact Center Platform. The Microsoft Digital Contact Center Platform offers fresh methods to combine current Microsoft solutions with partner technology and services in “an open, expandable, and collaborative” solution, much like the Microsoft Supply Chain Platform.
